Electrofusion fittings have small copper wires embedded within the interior of the fitting, which an electrical current then is run through using an electrofusion processor.

The electrofusion processor creates heat within the wires, which then melts the HDPE on the inside of the fitting and the outside of the pipe creating a homogenous bond and a leak-free joint.
